PA Hotel wins best dining award

Plantations Restaurant Manager Chantelle Kelly with the award for QHA’s Best Casual Dining Restaurant

Not many hotels in Australia have received as many accolades or achieved as many milestones as the Prince Alfred Hotel, and now the PA has been recognised again as a great place to meet and dine.

For regular diners at the PA’s Plantations Restaurant, it comes as no surprise that the popular dining venue has been recognised once again at last month’s Queensland Hotel Awards.

Taking out the prestigious title of the Best Casual Dining Restaurant against a number of top Queensland locations – like the Sandstone Point Hotel and the Osbourne Hotel in Fortitude Valley – Manager Peter Coultas said Plantations has been a leader in the casual dining industry since they decided to accommodate a coffee shop in the hotel – the first hotel in Australia to do so.

“Plantations Restaurant has always been ahead of the game and it’s nice to be recognised for it,” Mr Coultas said.

“The competition was so hard this year… however, our food is consistent, our service is consistent and we provide the Ipswich community with what they’re after.”

Plantations Restaurant Manager Chantelle Kelly was honoured to accept the award alongside PA Hotel owner, Clive Johnson.

Described as “the driving force of Plantations”, Ms Kelly believes the family friendly environment coupled with the affordable price point is why Plantations is so successful.

“Because it’s run by a family and has been run by the same family for more than 30 years, it’s very family friendly,” she said.

“They make it affordable yet still really nice for families to come to.

“I had customers the other day that had four children and themselves, they all had a drink, they all had a meal and they all shared entrees for a mere $107.. there’s no-one that isn’t feeling the pinch at the moment and it’s nice for our customers to bring their family out to dinner and share a beautiful meal in a beautiful venue with a great price point.”

The Prince Alfred Hotel comprises of the Plantations Restaurant, Char’d Dining and the Tap’d Bar, as well as function space a gaming room and Harry Browns Bottle Shop.

This level of variety under the one roof is another reason that Mr Coultas and Ms Kelly believe that the PA Hotel keep winning time and time again – there truly is something for every body.
