Convenient country living is attracting an increasing number of homebuyers to ‘Waterlea’ at nearby Walloon. Judging by the number of families making it their home, the $350 million Waterlea community has certainly hit a sweet-spot with buyers seeking a country lifestyle with the convenience of the city.

Homebuyers are impressed with the 13 village neighbourhoods and 34 hectares of parklands.They have been quick to snap-up homes in the masterplanned community, with Stage 1 selling out since its release in late 2016.

“We can’t believe the ease of access to the city, shops and schools; it’s only 12 minutes to Ipswich and within walking distance of the pub, IGA and the primary school,” Mrs Nolan said.

“I grew up in the country so when I saw Stroud Homes were offering a ranch style home design I was immediately drawn to it,” said Mrs Nolan.

“When we were told they were offering competitive pricing on that particular home design in February we knew we’d found our family home,” Mrs Nolan said.

“Our block is just shy of 800 square metres and has an acreage design which is long and flat, it wouldn’t have been an affordable option to buy such a massive block of land elsewhere.

Project marketing manager of Benchmark Properties Karla Johnston said the thoughtful masterplan includes a network of walking and cycling trails and a local park will be located within each neighbourhood.

“Community areas will also allow residents to enjoy concerts and sporting activities, there will be local playgrounds plus fitness circuits dotted throughout the development.”

“The larger lot sizes on offer at Waterlea give young families the opportunity to build their spacious dream home, which has been a real drawing point for first home buyers.”

“We’re seeing more and more families moving into Waterlea, creating a real community feel as they all get to know each other,” Ms Johnston said.

Upon completion Waterlea is set to include a 100m wide central green spine around the natural creek running through the length of the development.

Several pedestrian bridges will cross the creek – with its ponds and rock pools – connecting residents to 2.4km of cycling paths and nature trails.

This focus on healthy, family activities in a safe environment is a strong feature of living at Waterlea.

A 12-home display village is likely to take shape next year while a vibrant retail hub is also planned.

The community is about 10km from the Ipswich CBD, 45 minutes from Brisbane and one hour from the Gold Coast.

The project is also close to major local employers, with the RAAF base at Amberley only a 12-minute drive and Ipswich Hospital just 16 minutes away.

Expected population growth figures for the region have prompted extensive service upgrades including $20 million being spent on water and sewerage.

A major natural gas installation has been completed and the NBN network will be available in every home at Waterlea.

The surrounding local road network and motorway connections will also be extensively upgraded.

Affordable house and land packages are being offered, with prices starting at $309,500 and blocks of land starting at $152,000. These deals offer homebuyers the opportunity to own their own home in a quality masterplanned community, while easing the financial pressure.
